Overview

The Bunbuni Pass Trek is a scenic and moderately challenging trek located in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Starting from Barshaini, near the popular village of Kasol, the trail takes you through dense pine forests, charming Himalayan villages, and the famous hot springs of Kheerganga, before ascending to the beautiful alpine meadows of Bunbuni Pass at around 3,200 meters. With a total trekking distance of approximately 22–23 km over three days, the route offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and a peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds. It’s best done between May to July or September to October, avoiding the monsoon season. Ideal for beginners with basic fitness, the trek ends at Kalga village, from where you can return to Manali. This short Himalayan adventure combines natural beauty, serenity, and cultural charm in one unforgettable journey.

 

 


Bunbuni Pass Trek Itinerary (5 Days / 4 Nights)

????️ Day 1: Manali → Barshaini → Kheerganga

  • Distance: ~85 km drive (4-5 hours) + 10 km trek (5-6 hours)

  • Altitude: Manali (2050 m) → Barshaini (2400 m) → Kheerganga (2960 m)

  • Activities:

    • Early morning drive from Manali to Barshaini via Kasol.

    • Start trekking from Barshaini through forest and village trails.

    • Reach Kheerganga, known for its natural hot water spring.

  • Stay: Camps at Kheerganga

  • Meals: Packed lunch en route, dinner at camp


????️ Day 2: Kheerganga → Bunbuni Meadow

  • Distance: ~5-6 km (4-5 hours)

  • Altitude: ~3200 m

  • Activities:

    • Ascend through pine and oak forests with gradual steep sections.

    • Reach the Bunbuni meadows with panoramic views of the Parvati valley and snow-capped peaks.

  • Stay: Camps at Bunbuni Pass

  • Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner


????️ Day 3: Explore Bunbuni → Descend to Kalga → Drive to Kasol

  • Trek Distance: ~7 km (3-4 hours)

  • Activities:

    • Morning at leisure in Bunbuni (sunrise view, photography).

    • Begin descent to Kalga village.

    • Drive or walk down to Kasol (~15-20 minutes by cab).

  • Stay: Guesthouse/hotel in Kasol

  • Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch
