Overview

The Elephant Pur Cave Trek is an offbeat Himalayan trek located in the Kullu Manali region of Himachal Pradesh. This trek takes you through pristine forests, alpine meadows, and scenic landscapes, leading to the hidden Elephant Pur Cave.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Arrival & Start of the Journey

Route: Manali → Pah Nala (by vehicle) → Midway to Bada Nala (Trek)
Altitude Gain: ~2,050m to 2,400m
Trek Time: 2–3 hours (post vehicle drop)

  • Morning: Guests arrive in Manali. After a warm welcome and breakfast at our base camp, we drive through beautiful pine and deodar forests toward Pah Nala, a small yet scenic trailhead on the edge of Kullu's wilderness.

  • Afternoon: From Pah Nala, we start our short introductory trek on foot toward Bada Nala.

  • Evening: We halt halfway before Bada Nala at a peaceful forest clearing. Guests enjoy forest camping with bonfire, tea, and traditional Himachali snacks.

  • Night Stay: In tents with proper bedding, under the forest canopy.

  • Highlights: River-crossing, gentle forest trail, basic wilderness training.


Day 2 – Into the Heart of the Forest

Route: Bada Nala → Lamadugh
Altitude Gain: ~2,400m to 2,900m
Trek Time: 5–6 hours

  • Morning: After breakfast, we continue our trek toward the beautiful high-altitude meadow of Lamadugh. The trail includes dense pine and rhododendron forests, with birds and forest life along the way.

  • Lunch: En route or at our scenic forest lunch point.

  • Evening: We reach Lamadugh, a picturesque alpine meadow. Camp setup with sunset view of Manalsu valley and beyond.

  • Night Stay: Tented accommodation with warm meals and luxury touches.

  • Highlights: Deep forest trail, Himalayan flora, Lamadugh ridge sunset.


????️ Day 3 – Ridge Crossing Adventure

Route: Lamadugh → Hatipur Ridge → Tarapur Top → Kathi Kupdi
Altitude Gain: ~2,900m to 3,300m (then descend slightly)
Trek Time: 6–7 hours

  • Morning: After breakfast, we begin our most adventurous day. The trek climbs up to the Hatipur ridge, offering panoramic views of Mandi district on one side and Kullu valley on the other.

  • Noon: We cross over the scenic Tarapur Top, an ancient hilltop with remains of Tarapur Killa, now echoing stories of forgotten times.

  • Evening: Descend gently to Kathi Kupdi, a hidden clearing surrounded by forest for an overnight stay.

  • Night Stay: Camping at Kathi Kupdi with warm food and evening stargazing.

  • Highlights: Ridge walking, ancient ruins, 360° Himalayan view, deep solitude.


Day 4 – Into the Sacred Forests

Route: Kathi Kupdi → Kaisdhar → Forest Rest House
Altitude: ~3,000m
Trek Time: 3–4 hours (relaxing day)

  • Morning: Start the day with a short trek toward the Kaisdhar ridge, a spiritual and peaceful zone with stunning landscapes.

  • Midday: Reach Kaisdhar Forest Rest House, a heritage British-era structure nestled within the trees.

  • Evening: Free time to explore surrounding meadows, reflect, or journal under the trees. Optional short walk to local deity stones.

  • Night Stay: Rest house or tented luxury setup based on weather.

  • Highlights: Spiritual zone, forest history, luxury resting, full-circle forest connection.


Day 5 – Farewell & Return

Route: Kaisdhar → Drive back to Manali
Drive Time: ~3–4 hours via alternate route (depending on conditions)

  • Morning: After breakfast and farewell circle with the team, we descend via vehicle or short trail to the nearest motorable road.

  • Midday: Drive back to Manali, arrival around 2–3 PM.

  • Trip End: Tea and snacks at Swapnabhoomi Base Camp.
