The Rani Sui Lake Trek, nestled at 11772 ft within the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, is one of the few high-altitude treks open throughout the year for trekkers to explore.

The name of this lake is Rani Sui because it is said that during the time of King Maharaja when a fierce battle was going on, a queen who was pregnant, on the orders of the king, the queen went to this forest to increase the lineage and give birth to a child.  had taken refuge.  The queen found a big rock near this lake.  Under whose shelter the queen gave birth to a child.  Which is still present only a short distance away from this lake, Sui means giving birth in the local dialect, hence the name of this lake Rani Sui.

Day 01: Manali-Lama dugh

  • Trek Distance: 4 to 5 hours, 4.5 km trek (3065 m to 3317 m)

  • Water resources: This trekking patch does not have many water points from which you can fill your bottles. Dongri Mata Mandir is the

Today, we will start our exciting trekking trail from Dongri Mata Mandir, Hadimba Temple. This temple is located at a distance of 1.5 km from Manali. The temple has one water source for filling your bottles. We will not get any water resources on this route. Our trek trail begins from this temple. It is a steep climb on which you have to walk up. We have to be careful to climb this slope. 

This trekking patch offers breathtaking views of many amazing points such as Rohtang Pass, Pirpanjal, Manalsu Glacier, Indrasan Mountains, and Bara Shigri Glacier peaks. We will wait for some time to view these points and take a shot with our camera. We will also go through thick dense forests filled with lush green trees and bushes. This route also has many pine trees at different points. We will cross a ridge to reach Lama Dugh. It is a lovely alpine meadow covered with attractive flowers. 

Lama Dugh has a variety of exotic birds and animals. After reaching Lama Dugh, we will spend time in natural surroundings filled with huge pastoral land. Night stay will be in one’s tents.

Day 02: Lama Dugh to Rani Sui Lake back to Lama Dugh

  • Trek type: Followed by Lama Dugh

  • Trekking difficulty: Moderate to difficult 

On day 2, we will start our trekking journey early in the morning after breakfast. Today, we have to again climb a steep slope surrounded by beautiful alpine flowers. The road will get steeper at every altitude making your journey even tougher than morning. During your journey, you can enjoy capturing surreal views of Manali and Kullu Valley. 

Nature will flaunt itself with beautiful hues. On one side of this trekking trail, the river Beas flows gushingly while the majestic Kullu valley lies on the other side. You will feel like you are entering a gateway of nature. Panoramic views of Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar Ranges will capture your mind and heart. 

We will finally reach Rani Sui Lake. It is a small lake encircled by huge meadows with green trees. Green pasture lands are full of shepherds in the summer season. We will return to Lama Dugh by night. Overnight stay will be in your tents.

Day 03: Lama dugh to Manali and departure

  • Altitude: 3317 m to 3065 m 
  • Trek distance: 4.5 km, 3 hours 
  • Trek type: Followed by Lama Dugh 
  • Water points: you must carry sufficient water as there is only one water point on this route. 
  • Trekking difficulty: Easy to moderate 

It is the last day of the trekking journey. We will start our trek from Lama Dugh in the early morning after breakfast. Our group will take the same route from Lama Dugh to Manali. We will take a downward journey to Manali. 

This journey is easy and we will reach Manali within 4 hours. You can spend a couple of days in Manali with our group.

Things To Carry:

  • 1 sun cap and 1 woolen cap to cover the head.
  • 3 types of jackets include waterproof, windproof, and down jacket.
  • Undergarments

  • 1 head torch with extra batteries.
  • Personal medicines.
  • 2 pairs of T-shirt, 2 pairs warm -15°C down jacket.
  • Personal kit containing a toothbrush, toilet paper, toothpaste, moisturizer, face wash, hand towel, sunscreen lotion, soap, and other creams
  • 2 to 3 trek pants
  • 1 Balaclava and 1 neck warmer
  • 3 pairs of woolen socks and 1 pair of slippers.
  • Poncho or rain jacket. 
  • 1 bottle to carry water and 1 flask of hot water. 
  • Rain cover with 50 liters rucksack.
